Karen Locking

Karen joined BGU in 2019 as a visiting tutor but formally joined the Business Team on a part time basis in 2021 as a Lecturer in Business and Enterprise. Alongside this role Karen runs a successful marketing consultancy focussing on social media and specialising in working with marketing teams and SME’s.

Karen holds a BA(Hons) in Business Studies, a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and is currently studying on the Senior Leadership Management Degree Apprentice (SLMDA) to gain a masters level qualification in Business. Karen is also a performance development business coach with a passion for encouraging others to find what makes them tick.

Karen’s main research interests include social media, leadership and management, high performing teams and entrepreneurship. Karen ran a successful business networking group across North and North East Lincolnshire for eight years connecting senior decision makers to other change makers in the area and has a passion for networking and connecting individuals.

Karen teaches on the undergraduate BA (Hons) Business programme and the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship (CMDA) where she is also the pastoral support for these learners. Karen’s teaching specialisms include marketing, leadership and management, business start up and entrepreneurship.
