Jenny lectures in Counselling on the joint BA in Psychology and Counselling. She is a qualified Counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
She holds an MA in Counselling from the University of Nottingham along with a Post Graduate Certificate in Telephone Guidance from the University of Derby and a Post Graduate Certificate in Social Science from the Open University.
Jenny’s Masters’s dissertation explored working therapeutically with Post Traumatic Stress from a Bio Psycho Social Person – Centred model. She has looked at defining quality standards in telephone helpline work and the ways in which and new and emerging mediums for helping ‘at-a-distance’ may increase accessibility for socially excluded and non-traditional service users. Her first degree included Media Studies and Jenny has more recently developed research interests in film therapy. She has explored the genre of reality TV shows that focus on therapeutic interventions and is interested in the appeal of the horror and Science Fiction genres for trauma survivors.
