Janice Morris

Janice has been Teaching Resources Collection Librarian at Bishop Grosseteste University, Lincoln, since 2003. Her career started in Willenhall Public Library, followed by two years in Nigeria as Reader Services Librarian in a College of Education. On returning home she worked for Wiltshire School Library Service where she discovered and developed the love of children's literature she has nurtured and drawn upon since. As Subject Librarian for Initial Teacher Training, TESOL and Children's Literature, Janice is responsible for the Teaching Resources Collection. This self-contained collection within BGU Library houses specialist materials for trainee teachers and those working or intending to work in education as well as those studying children’s literature. Janice also maintains the Children’s Literature Collection, which has been developed over the past 50 years and is a comprehensive and unique collection of work by classic and contemporary writers of children’s books. Janice's particular interest is in facilitating students and staff to develop their knowledge of Children’s Literature. She has initiated and contributed to projects that promote this, including shadowing the Carnegie and Greenaway Awards and the UKLA Book Awards, organising author visits, and co-producing an in-house newsletter dedicated to children’s literature. Janice was a founder member of the English Subject Group that has culminated in the RKEU Literature and Literacies (LiLi).
