Emma joined BGU in August 2017 after 6 years as a self-employed school advisor providing in-class coaching, training and to local authorities, schools and networks with experience in English, assessment and learning. She worked for several years for the Primary National Strategies leading the successful Every Child a Writer programme and has developed languages curricula and assessment guidance in over 150 countries.


Emma will be contributing to a range of programmes within Teacher Development including undergraduate and PGCE course. Emma is Assessment lead for the school of Teacher Development.

Emma has an MA in Learning and Teaching. Her final thesis explored the relationship between curriculum and pedagogy and practice. She also holds Certificate of Further Professional Study in Leading Assessment for Learning. She is also interested in Children’s literature and dialogic teaching. She is currently co-researcher on the Maker Circle project exploring 21st Century Literacies at Sheffield Hallam University.
