Dr Jonathan Wainwright
Jonathan Wainwright joined BGU in 2018 having previously worked at Sheffield Hallam University for the last 15 years where he led post graduate provision in the Department of Education, Childhood and Inclusion.
A secondary science teacher by background, Jonathan has had a wealth of experience in leadership and organisational development in a wide variety of settings ranging from Lancaster University Management School to manufacturing and financial services.
He acted as lead tutor on the NPQICL programme for the Yorkshire and Humberside region which led to his interest in Children’s’ Centres and ultimately his doctorate which focussed on the life stories of leaders in Children’s Centres.
He is a trustee of a special school MAT in Huddersfield and has recently become a trustee of a mainstream primary MAT in Gainsborough.
Jonathan teaches on the primary post-graduate certificate in education leading, co-leading and contributing to a number of modules, particularly around the teaching of science in primary schools. He leads a Masters module, regularly contributing to MA weekends; Jonathan also acts as a supervisor for a number of doctoral students.
Jonathan’s main interests are around educational and school governance. He has worked on a number European research projects.
