Organised by SNDT University (India’s first Women’s University) the four day conference, titled 'Be the difference; Equality and Equity in Education', explored research and evidence based practices across and outside of India on subjects including Diversity and Inclusive Education, Multicultural Education and Gender Equality.

With its aim being to provide an open forum the event was attended by teachers, academics from around the world along with representatives from the Indian government and World Health Organisation.

In addition to presenting a paper on ‘Inclusive Practice in the UK’ Dr Lindley-Baker chaired 2 plenary sessions examining ‘The place of technology in inclusive practice’ and ‘Managing behaviour to support inclusion’.

For Dr Lindley-Baker, the conference was an opportunity to continue sharing the concept of inclusive practice with wider world:

“Having such an active role in this conference has been a fantastic experience. Through my presentation and plenary sessions challenges and developments in inclusive practice have been explored on an international scale covering many themes including disability, gender and rural home schooling in India”

Conference abstracts, along with a forthcoming book based on the conference paper, will soon be available. For anyone in the University community who would like to know more about inclusive practice Dr Lindley-Baker is available to run group learning sessions. For more information contact her here.

As a result of Dr Lindley-Baker’s involvement in the conference BGU is looking to continue collaboration with the SNDT in both research and knowledge exchange. Our academics are regularly invited to present at conferences and events around the world, you can follow all their travels on our news page and find out how you can start your own adventures on our course pages.
