Bishop Grosseteste University is delighted to announce that our BA (Hons) Geography degree course has been given official accreditation from the Royal Geographical Society.

The Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers) is the UK's learned society and professional body for geography, supporting geography and geographers across the world.

In awarding the University’s BA degree their accreditation the Society recognised the high quality of the Geography education available to students at BGU.

Sarah Hemstock, Programme Leader for Geography at BGU, described what the accreditation meant to the University:

“It is fantastic to see the high quality education and hard work of our academic team being recognised by the Royal Geographical Society.

“Along with the University’s TEF Gold rating it is another example of the impressive standard of teaching and course content here at BGU”

In addition BGU will be hosting the International Symposium on Climate Change and the Role of Education on the 12th and 13th of April 2019.

Organised in partnership between BGU, the International Climate Change Information Programme (ICCIP), Hamburg University of Applied Scientists and the Baltic University Programme; the Symposium is setting out to explore how society can adapt to the far reaching effects of climate change to overcome the challenges it poses along with the crucial role Education plays in engaging and empowering people to act to alleviate the impacts of the climate change.

The Symposium is aimed at those working in, or concerned with, education and climate change. It will provide an opportunity to showcase projects, approaches and activities that investigate or utilise education as a means to mitigate or adapt to climate change.
