Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU) is pleased to be able to offer students the opportunity to work towards Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) professional accreditation on its new Childhood and Youth (Youth Work Pathway) course option.
Part of the existing Foundation Degree and Progression Route courses in Childhood and Youth at BGU; this pathway allows students to work towards both an academic qualification as well as a professional qualification recognised by the National Youth Agency.
The pathway focuses on the practical skills involved in Youth Work. Students undertaking it will be supported by a fieldwork supervisor and lecturers to collate evidence from their professional practice to create a portfolio of work mapped against the national occupational standards for Youth Work. To achieve the qualification students will need to complete both the foundation degree and progression route courses.
Gaining a qualification that is either endorsed or validated by the National Youth Agency and recognised by the JNC ensures it is quality checked and fit for purpose. It helps develop youth work practitioners that can meet the needs of young people and employers in the youth work field.
