Enhance your skills with our flexible course style

The last two weeks marked 'Foster Care Fortnight', the Fostering Network's annual campaign to raise awareness of the power of fostering and to celebrate the fostering community.

Taking place from the 10th until the 23rd of May it provides Foster carers, professionals and care leavers with the opportunity to tell the world "Why We Care".

Every year, tens of thousands of children across the UK need foster carers while they can’t live with their own families.

Providing care to young people in need is incredibly rewarding but not without its challenges, one of which is finding opportunities to balance education with work and caring responsibilities.

However, the Professional Studies pathways at Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU) can provide carers with opportunities to enhance their support skills in a way that fits around their caring responsibilities, as Dr Rachael Fell-Chambers, Senior Lecturer, explains:

"Our Childhood & Youth and Early Childhood pathways welcome applications from Foster Carers to develop their professional skills in supporting children and young people. This course will help you expand on the already valuable knowledge and experience you have gained so far in your fostering career. We want to help you to enhance the support you provide for children and young people."
