POSTPONED: Sex and The Tudors
April 30 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm£8
THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE IN RESPONSE TO THE CORDIV-19 CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK.
On 16th March 2020 the Prime Minister Boris Johnston made a statement in regards to the COVID-19 and social distancing. The Government have increased the UK’s response by encouraging stricter measures surrounding social distancing.
These measures include advising against non-essential social contact; including avoiding pubs, clubs, restaurants and theatres as well as non-essential travel for a prolonged period.
Based on this statement we have taken the difficult decision to suspend all events until after the Summer.
We appreciate this will be of immense disappointment to our patrons but our priority must be the health and safety of our customers, community and colleagues.
We will be doing our best to contact all customers with existing bookings and our hope is to postpone rather than cancel our events.
Once again we apologise for any disappointment or inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience in what is a difficult and unprecedented situation.
We look forward to welcoming you back as soon as possible.
We are delighted to welcome Lesley Smith back to BGU, to give her talk on Sex and the Tudors. This talk given by Lesley is a rip-roaring tumble through the sexual exploits of the Tudors. Not just Henry VIII had a good time, so did a lot of other people according to records! Contraception, prostitution, and gay sex features in this factual, engaging and highly entertaining lecture.
Lesley Smith is Curator of Tutbury Castle in Staffordshire and an English Reformationist with a particular interest in medical history. She has lectured across the world making on average 200 public performances each year and has 28 academic publication in her name. Lesley has appeared in over 150 television programmes in the last ten years and regularly gives radio interviews.
Please note the performance is not suitable for those under 16 years of age, for those who shock easily or have a nervous disposition.
