Frontline Combat is an outdoor laser tag facility for children based in Lincoln. The business offers holiday clubs that run daily, which allow children and adults to spend time in the great outdoors, building forts alongside laser tag games.
What opportunity was offered?
When Billy Hart took over Frontline Combat in 2017, he had big plans for the business. He saw great potential in the activities that were on offer, as well as how it could be expanded in the future. Whilst Billy had a good understanding of how to run the events side of the business, he was unsure about the business operation side. He had heard that Bishop Grosseteste offered support services for businesses and decided to get in touch. After being directed towards the friendly team at Business Inspiration, Billy was keen to be involved in the programme.
How did Business Inspiration help?
Business Inspiration was able to help Billy with the business management side of Frontline Combat through the 15 hours of tailored support he received. The team talked him through putting together a business plan and cashflow forecast for Frontline Combat, as well as sorting out the finances, ready for an external accountant to take over their management. This was done by ensuring that staff were properly registered through the accountancy software, so that payroll could be issued correctly. Business Inspiration also helped Billy to create a list of pros and cons for business decisions, to help him more objectively grow his business in the future.
What impact has this had on the business?
Since receiving advice from Business Inspiration, Billy has been able to look at the decisions he makes in his business very differently. He can now be more confident that any decision he makes is possible from the business operations side of Frontline Combat. Billy continues to use many of the business management techniques that he was taught in his support sessions with the Business Inspiration programme, including keeping a pros and cons list, and updating his business plan.
This has allowed him to manage his finances better, and to make informed decisions that will help him grow his business.
What would you say to others looking to access the programme?
Speaking of the Business Inspiration programme, Billy said:
“It was free, good advice, and the team made me feel very welcome.
It was a really positive experience. It’s helped me move my business forward so much, and I think other small businesses could benefit from the same type of support.”
