Dr Maria Efstratopoulou from Bishop Grossteste University (BGU) was recently invited to the Sport University of Beijing (BSU) to deliver a series of seminars and practical workshops.

Dr Efstratopoulou, Senior Lecturer on the Special Educational Needs, Disability and Inclusion (SENDI) programme at BGU, delivered the sessions to Masters and Doctoral Students at BSU’s campus in China as part of an annual international project.

The project is coordinated by the University of Alabama and brings together a number of experts on Adapted Physical Activity and Special Education from around the world to deliver seminars and exchange ideas on International Research cooperation.

Over two weeks Dr Efstratopoulou led a variety of sessions exploring Global Inclusion Strategies and Psychomotor therapy with the BSU students.

Describing her time in Beijing Dr Efstratopoulou highlighted the Project’s positive impact on innovative SEN work:

“The aim of the Project this year was to provide ideas on Global Inclusion Strategies through Sports and Activities for students with SEN.

“As an expert in APA (Adapted Physical Activity) and Psychomotor Therapy my seminars were on Research and Inclusion Strategies for children with Autism and ADHD in Primary Education. These were a balanced programme of both theoretical and practical Sessions to give attendees the best experience of utilising these techniques in practice.

“It was great to be a part of such an engaging and enthusiastic project and I’m excited at the opportunities for driving positive SEN strategies on an international level that it has created”.

BGU is involved in a number of exciting projects with universities and educational establishments around the world. You can keep up to date with all of them on our news page.
