Incoming Students

Can I still undertake an Erasmus+ mobility programme at BGU in 2020/2021?

BGU, like all universities in the UK and across Europe, is continuing to make positive preparations for the new academic year, including the provision of welcoming incoming students to BGU through the Erasmus+ mobility programme. Therefore, BGU is currently accepting nominations from its partner universities for students wishing to join us in semester 1, 2020/21 (autumn term) and semester 2, 2020/21 (spring term). The deadline for semester 1 nominations is 29 May 2020. The deadline for semester 2 nominations is 27 November 2020.

Students accepted onto the Erasmus+ mobility programme in 2020/21 are advised that such an acceptance is dependent on the revision to travel restrictions currently in place due to the COVID-19 outbreak and to any necessary adjustments to the new academic year imposed by Bishop Grosseteste University. Bishop Grosseteste University advises all students accepted onto an Erasmus+ mobility programme to have appropriate travel insurance in place prior to making any travel and accommodation purchases (advice which applies to all Erasmus mobilities, irrespective of global pandemics).

Nominations will need to be received from your home institution.

Outgoing Students

The Erasmus+ programme is the perfect choice for you if you have ever wanted to live abroad and experience a foreign culture, meet new people or even learn a foreign language. You will be giving the opportunity to enrich your studies with wide ranging and cultural experiences which could stand you in better stead when looking for a job in the future.

This is a great opportunity to spend between 3 and 12 months in another European country, and have it count towards your degree. You get to experience another culture and a new way of looking at your subject. You can make new friends and grow as a person.

Staff Opportunities

Incoming Staff

BGU, like all universities in the UK and across Europe, is continuing to make positive preparations for the new academic year, including the provision of welcoming incoming students and staff to BGU through the Erasmus+ mobility programme. Therefore, BGU is currently accepting nominations from its partner universities for staff wishing to join us for training mobilities in 2020/21. However, we will be prioritising staff mobilities postponed from the spring term 2020 ahead of any new mobility requests, to acknowledge the commitment already made to those partners.

Staff accepted onto the Erasmus+ mobility programme in 2020/21 are advised that such an acceptance is dependent on the revision to travel restrictions currently in place due to the COVID-19 outbreak and to any necessary adjustments to the new academic year imposed by Bishop Grosseteste University.

Bishop Grosseteste University advises all staff accepted onto an Erasmus+ mobility programme to have appropriate travel insurance in place prior to making any travel and accommodation purchases (advice which applies to all Erasmus mobilities, irrespective of global pandemics).

For current Bishop Grosseteste University staff, both Academic and Professional Support, Erasmus offers the opportunity to teach or train elsewhere in Europe for a period of up to five days.

Not only can this give your career a boost, it also offers a change to exchange expertise, develop international networks and discover new approaches to work practices.
