Course Leader for Undergraduate Primary
Becky Geeson lectures in the School of Teacher Development and leads our two successful primary undergraduate degrees – BA (Hons) Primary Education with recommendation for QTS and BA (Hons) Primary Teaching Studies with recommendation with QTS. She joined Bishop Grosseteste University in 2011 following twelve years teaching in Lincolnshire primary schools in a variety roles including senior leadership and during this time gaining Advanced Skills Teacher (AST) status, and on a part time basis at Nottingham Trent University on ITT programmes.
Becky generally teaches on the undergraduate programmes, but also occasionally contributes to the PGCE programmes. Her teaching interests include the teaching of art and maths in primary schools. She has a particular interest in the creative curriculum, planning and contemporary issues in education. Becky’s interests focus predominantly on the role of the teacher in KS1 and KS2, enabling her to utilise her former role in education to support students’ learning through a variety of routes into teaching.
Becky’s research interests during her MA considered the role of the teacher educator and her current research centres on her work with work-based learners and their transition between teaching assistant and teacher.
