BA (Hons) Psychology and Counselling

This is a joint honours degree, which allows you to study 50% of your course in Psychology and 50% in Counselling.

Studying Psychology at BGU will allow you to gain an in-depth understanding of the scientific nature of the subject and of its wider cultural and social impact. You will develop your understanding of psychology and its theories of the mind, emotions and behaviour and become familiar with how these theories are applied in our lives, communities and societies. For full information on Psychology, click here.

At BGU a range of different approaches to counselling can be studied, including psychoanalytic, humanistic and cognitive behavioural. This course gives a solid grounding in the understanding of counselling and offers transferable skills, particularly relevant when working closely with other people in a helping profession such as caring, nursing, social work and probation, as well as in human resources, management or mediation and advocacy positions. For full information on Counselling, click here.

This joint honours degree is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) as conferring eligibility for Graduate Membership of the Society with the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership, provided the minimum standard of qualification of Second-Class Honours is achieved and the empirical psychology project is passed. This is the first step towards becoming a Chartered Psychologist and/or Practicing Psychologist.
