Role: Managing Director
“For more than twenty years I have held an ambition to go to the Fringe, but never in my wildest dreams did I think it would ever happen! Now, thirty years after leaving school, I am going to the Fringe as a student! One of the few students in the country who will be performing at the festival. How cool is that?”
Name: Lisa
Role: Perfomer
“I feel extremely privileged to be given this chance – it really is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I cannot wait to get up there and show them what we are made of! There is a great amount of support within the university [college], with so many people pulling together to help organise a project which allows us to give something back to the community. I aim to repay them by doing my best and, of course, bringing a smile to a few faces along the way! Everybody is working really hard on the performances; we have a lot of talent to offer the big wide world!”
“My focus for the festival is performing street theatre and taking part in the samba band. It’s amazing to finally be given the opportunity to head out onto the streets and express ourselves, making as much noise as we like, knowing that there will be people there to appreciate it and share in our joy. It’s an experience I welcome with open arms!”
Name: Jo
Role: Operations Manager
“It has always been a dream of mine to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and there is no better production to perform in other than The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe! I want to further my acting skills, and hopefully develop my leadership role as Operations Manager. I am incredibly excited about Edinburgh, as it’s going to be an immense challenge and achievement. I am going with an amazing group of people who I know will support me, and who I will be able to support. The world is our oyster!”
Name: Matthew
Role: Fringe Link
Matthew’s job entails composing 40 words about the production for the Fringe Programme, and reading all of the bulletins to see if there are deadlines or dates that the company needs to know about. He also fills in forms and sends letters to the Fringe in order for the company to perform on the Royal Mile.
“My reasons for contributing to BG Touring are firstly due to the visit I had a couple of years ago to the Edinburgh Fringe with my parents! I thought it was an amazing experience to just visit, and the moment we were given the opportunity to actually perform at the festival, I thought that it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to contribute to this amazing festival of everything I love – music, art, dance and of course my favourite art form, drama. I also believe that with the experience on my CV it should hopefully contribute towards securing my career in secondary school drama teaching. Overall I’m doing this for the personal reason of having fun. I also just want to play a small part in the world’s biggest arts festival. I cannot wait for Edinburgh! All I can say is bring it on!”
Name: Sarah

“BG Touring is not just something to put on your CV; that’s not why you do something like this! I think the Edinburgh Festival is a once in a lifetime opportunity and if the talent that resides at Bishop Grosseteste University [College] can be profiled in BG Touring then I am so happy to become a part of it because I know what we can achieve through our hard work. It’s pure excitement!”

“I got involved with BG Touring because it is a once in a lifetime opportunity and it’s just so exciting! I love working with the people involved, and we are going to have an amazing time in Edinburgh. I can’t wait to be amongst the action and to see other shows that are taking place.”
Name: Gemma
Role: Costume and set committee member
“It’s the responsibility of signing the contract, making sure you’re there for all the dates, rehearsal schedule, the management side of things; you have to get everything perfect and you feel professional. It’s not just about you, it’s about the whole team. I think it’s going to be one of the most worthwhile things I’ve ever done.”
