BGU provides all students, staff and visitors access to a campus wide wireless computer network. The wireless network (Wi-Fi) provides users with access to their BGU e-mail accounts, Office 365, MyDay Student Portal and OneDrive Pro, as well being able to browse the internet.
Using Wi-Fi at BGU
All students and staff who are currently registered on the BGU’s computer network are entitled to access the Wi-Fi network. You will be provided with access details on how to connect to the Eduroam Wi-Fi network during enrolment, together with a copy of the BG Wi-Fi Service User Guide, including the Wireless Network Guidelines. This along with the IT Systems Acceptable Use Policy must be adhered to at all times when using the Wi-Fi.
Your Wi-Fi user ID is the same as your normal BGU network username but you must ensure you have anti-virus software and personal firewall software enabled on your computer before you begin using the Wi-Fi. Anti-virus software generally has to be purchased and installed so you should know if you have done this. Firewalls must also be purchased and installed, however Windows XP Service Pack 2 and subsequent Windows operating systems have it built in. Free anti-virus and firewall software is available to download from the internet.
You must be a registered BGU student or staff member to access our Wi-Fi system and access is based on authentication against your BGU account.
Help and Advice
Enquiries about use of the BGU Wi-Fi or technical support will be provided by the IT Department during normal weekday office hours. Please email the IT Helpdesk firstname.lastname@example.org, call 01522 583666 (ext 3666 on campus), or pop into see the Helpdesk Technician in the Library.
