Students can access general IT facilities through a number of computer rooms and areas conveniently located around the University campus.
Each PC or Virtual desktop terminals is connected to the University’s network and there is usually a multifunctional device (MFD) nearby offering colour and black and white printing, copying and scanning. If you want to work late into the evening we have a 24 hour computer suite based in the Cornerstone Building.
The computer rooms and suites are open to all members of the University but access outside core hours will be by BGU Student or Staff Card only, or in some cases via the Porters.
f you are using the computers during a limited access period, please be prepared to show your Student Card to University security staff.
It is important that you do not allow other people to enter computer rooms and areas, or other limited access areas, by holding the door open for them when you have used your card to get access.
Please note: these areas are monitored by CCTV
Print & Copying
To use the MFD’s around campus you will need to first scan your Student ID Card on the machine or enter BGU username and password. You need to make sure that you have sufficient credit in your pcounter account to complete your printing/copying.
This service is supported by the Universities Reprographics Department. For further information or for any help or advice, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
An item can be sent to print from any PC on the network and is stored in your personal queue for up to 24 hours. You can then release it for printing from any MFD once you have logged in.
There are two queues currently used for Students to print:
- Student_mono –
The default printer that is set to duplex printing and black and white. When printing in black and white prints should be sent to this queue.
- Student_Colour –
The secondary printer that is also set to duplex printing and has the option of printing in colour. When printing in colour prints should be sent to this queue and released from a Colour MFD.
The MFD default settings are to print duplex (double sided and black and white). To print in colour, users will need to change the default settings.
The MFD will charge accordingly for a mixture of colour pages and black and white items. Please note that URLs in a document will print in colour if sent to the colour MFD.
Balances and transactions will be shown on the Print Balance tile within the Student Portal
The MFD default settings are to copy duplex (double sided) and to copy as black and white. These settings can be changed on the MFD.
