BG Futures offers you the opportunity to join their Networking Club in order to demonstrate to future employers that you have undertaken networking activity and developed and practiced your networking and employability skills. This is an excellent thing to be able to add to any CV, plus you will be able to add points to your Employability Award record as well. The club is comprised of both students and employers, and promotes a supportive and friendly atmosphere with meetings 2-3 times a year.
What is Networking?
Sometimes it can be hard to know whether a job or career is right for you. Talking to people who work in your areas of interest can help you clarify your ideas and give you tips as to where to find opportunities. Networking is not about asking for a job, it’s about gathering information, discussing ideas and raising your profile within a professional setting. By doing this you can make useful contacts, increase your confidence levels and find out about opportunities that have not been advertised.
In the workplace, networking:
- allows public and private sector organisations to develop effective partnerships and relationships with other organisations
- helps organisations to win business and gain support
- benefits individuals with their own personal career progression
To join the club, please contact the BG Futures Careers, Employability and Enterprise Team.
