PGCE and School Direct applicants must apply via UCAS Teacher Training. The UCAS application fee is £24 for 2017 entry.
There are various options available for you to become a teacher but there are a number of requirements which must be met regardless of course or route you choose.
- You must have achieved GCSE Grade C or above in English Language and Mathematics
- You must have achieved GCSE Grade C or above in Science, if you wish to train to teach the Primary age range
It is preferable to have these qualifications before applying, however, consideration will be given to those which are achieved prior to enrolment.
In addition to these requirements, various courses specify a minimum number of days experience in their entry requirements.
Please ensure you understand all requirements, which are referred to clearly in your UCAS application. If not, this could result in a delay or an unsuccessful outcome.
We do consider equivalent qualifications and below is a list of those which are deemed equivalent here at Bishop Grosseteste University.
If your qualifications are not listed in the above documents, we will consider http://www.equivalencytesting.com/ as an equivalent.
Postgraduate and Professional Graduate Certificates in Education (PGCE) offer an integrated academic and professional preparation for teaching, combining academic study at masters level with recommendation for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). If you have any further questions please the BGU admissions team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The School Direct Training Programme is school-embedded Initial Teacher Training (ITT) in primary and secondary schools across England. All of BGU’s School Direct places will lead to both a full PGCE award and Qualified Teacher Status.
