Although Lincoln has a low crime rate than other cities, the campus is still secured and monitored by night wardens and senior students on duty. All of our senior students and night wardens are qualified First Aiders in case of accidents. We ensure that all halls of residence comply with current safety standards and the fire alarms are tested on a weekly basis throughout the year. All electrical equipment, unless brand new and accompanied by a receipt, must be tested before it may be used on campus. The University will organise this and a small charge will be made per person.
Senior Student Residents
Each year the University invites applications from second and third year students who wish to contribute to the co-ordination of student support within University residential accommodation and to help to create and sustain a secure and friendly environment for residents. These ‘Senior Residents’ serve as first point of contact for the residences for which they are responsible. They liaise with the Accommodation Officer / Warden, the Residency Team Halls Assistants, Portering Staff, and relevant University Departments. All Senior Residents are expected to have a sense of community and responsibility, a firm integrity, a willingness to demonstrate commitment to the students and to possess and use the attributes of tolerance and humour – which will be needed on a regular basis!
