Graduation

The Graduation booking pages go live on Monday 21 March!

Graduation is the biggest event of the year at Bishop Grosseteste University. Celebrations take place each July to mark the achievements of our students as they receive degrees and awards. Graduation takes place in the magnificent setting of Lincoln Cathedral. Following the ceremonies, celebrations are held on the University campus.

Graduation 2015

Graduation at BGU has now grown to a point that there will now be two exciting days of celebrations. Over 1000 students graduated from Bishop Grosseteste University, with ceremonies held at Lincoln Cathedral on Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 of July. The Chancellor of Bishop Grosseteste University, Dame Judith Mayhew Jonas, opened the ceremonies and the Vice Chancellor Rev Canon Professor Peter S Neil welcomed the congregation, thanking everyone for being a part of the special day.

Along with the graduates who received bachelor, post graduate and foundation degrees and awards, we also recognised the achievements of local teachers who worked for master's level qualifications at the University. This represents a significant contribution by the University to the education of Lincolnshire children and we were proud to be supporting current and future generations of teachers in that way.

The ceremonies were, as usual, great ceremonial occasions and the procession was led back to the University from the Cathedral by the University Samba band and the Town Crier.

Celebrations continued back at the University campus where each graduate and their guests received strawberries and a glass of Prosecco.

Also accepting special honours on the day were Julian Richards (BA, FSA) and The Very Reverend Philip Buckler who were both awarded Honary Graduates of the University. Professor Sir Robert Burgess (KT, DL, BA, PHD, FACSS) was awarded Life Fellow of the University during the first ceremony on the Wednesday.
