Record number of new students at BG
More than 600 new undergraduates arrive at Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln this week to begin their degree programmes. Starting courses in a wide range of education, cultural and arts subjects, the new students join more than 300 postgraduate teacher training students whose programmes are already well underway.
Following unprecedented demand for places this summer, many well qualified candidates were turned away. Making sure that all the successful candidates are settled into accommodation on campus and across Lincoln, BG’s accommodation office has had a busy summer.
Welcoming the students, Principal Muriel Robinson said “You are joining BG at a particularly exciting time. As we celebrate our 150th anniversary we are looking to the future and you will be among the first to benefit from our investment in the major Library extension and BG Futures – our business centre – which you see being built on campus.”
Continuing, Profession Robinson commended the BG Students’ Union for its welcome effort. “It has been great to see SU representatives welcoming new students who are in off-campus accommodation as well as to see how you are supporting freshers through Facebook and Twitter.”
