Piano Project
We are currently in the process of raising funds towards a brand new concert-standard Grand Piano, to be housed in our Chapel. We want to enhance your experience, and the experience of staff and students, and to ensure we offer an excellent concert venue to local music groups. A grand piano will provide a resource that will allow us to put on concert standard performances for the benefit of students and the wider local community. Plato once suggested that "Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything". With your help we can ensure that all have the opportunity to experience the power and emotion that music can instil in our lives.
Grand pianos have the frame and strings placed horizontally, with the strings extending away from the keyboard. This makes the grand piano a large instrument, for which the ideal setting is a spacious room with high ceilings for proper resonance. Grand Pianos have longer strings, meaning that they have better sound and truer overtones. This will enable us to stage concerts of high quality and to attract leading musicians to Lincoln.
We need to raise a total of £23,000 to purchase and maintain a new Yamaha C7 Grand Piano for the Chapel and to enhance the musical performances that we can put on in this unique space. Anything that you can give towards this significant project will help to ensure that we can reach our target. You may also wish to take advantage of the opportunity to fund a component of the Piano as follows:
The body of the piano at £1,000; The legs of the piano at £600 each; The strings of the piano at £300; The pedals of the piano at £100 each; An individual key at £60 each; An individual hammer at £30 each.In return, if you opt to fund a component you will receive a certificate indentifying the part you have sponsored and your name will also appear on the list of donors displayed in the University. Depending on the component you fund, you will also be invited to a number of VIP university events across the year. We welcome any level of donation towards this important project and every donation, no matter the value, will be acknowledged.
To pledge a donation please see the 'Pledging a Gift' page in this section. Thank you for your generosity and support.
