Events are a large part of life here at the university and we believe that our entertainment, lectures and debates should be open for everyone to enjoy and join in with. We host a wide range of events though out the year so we are sure there is something for everyone. We hope to see you soon!
Make sure to download the latest edition of our events programme and news magazine BG&You for articles, dates for the diary and a way to stay tuned with the university and its activities.
Bishop Grosseteste University’s staff and students invite the community to engage with the results of their research on the lives of women, who trained as teachers at our institution from the 1860s to the vote. Come and rediscover the lost voices of pioneering women through imaginative activities and interactive displays. Share this fascinating local heritage, and help to unfold our Victorian origins!
Activities include an exhibition, BGU’s Victorian Origins: a women’s teacher training college for the Diocese of Lincoln, which displays original material from our archives including photographs, needle work, bulletins, records, and books talks and presentations.
Additionally, on Thursday 23 November, young writers from local schools taking part in Slam Jam and First Story will help us recreate voices from the archives imaginatively through creative writing workshops. (If your school would like to take part in this event, please contact Dr Claudia Capancioni, firstname.lastname@example.org, by the 3 November.)
No booking required.
