BG Futures offers students the opportunity to join their Networking Club in order to demonstrate to future employers that they have undertaken networking activity and developed and practiced their networking and employability skills. The club is comprised of both students and employers, and promotes a supportive and friendly atmosphere with meetings 2-3 times a year.
What is Networking?
Sometimes it can be hard to know whether a job or career is right. Talking to people who work in areas of interest can help clarify ideas and provide tips as to where to find opportunities. Networking is not about asking for a job, it’s about gathering information, discussing ideas and raising profiles within a professional setting. By doing this useful contacts can be made and opportunities can be discovered that have not been advertised or even recognised as a need within the company.
In the workplace, networking:
- allows public and private sector organisations to develop effective partnerships and relationships with other organisations
- helps organisations to win business and gain support
- benefits individuals with their own personal career progression
To join the club, please contact the BG Futures Careers, Employability and Enterprise Team by emailing email@example.com.
