Business & Enterprise
Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln is committed to supporting business and enterprise both within the institution and in the wider community.
Through the work of the University College's Sky Centre, we aim to develop enterprising students, staff and alumni. Through events, advice, targeted financial support and other business support initiatives, we help create the kind of workforce needed to face tomorrow's business challenges.
We appreciate the importance and value enterprise can have on businesses and individuals. Those students planning a career in teaching may be particularly interested to learn about the place of enterprise in education. Others may be reflecting on how business 'know-how' can inform their career planning.
Some of those visiting the Sky Centre may also consider starting up or growing their own micro business and we currently have a number of students and alumni who have successfully done this. Facilities for rent are available within the Sky Centre including: business pods; hot desk facilities; virtual office facilities; and meeting spaces.
| Student Enterprise Opportunities |
The Business Development Office is here to help you, our students, to understand the value of enterprise and entrepreneurship, developing those all important skills employers are looking for.
Those who are planning a career in education are encouraged to participate in programmes such as 'Lab in a Lorry', allowing interaction with schools from across the county and providing valuable teaching experience. Others, who may be considering whether business know-how can help with their career choices, are supported in identifying placement schemes that can give them invaluable experience in business either during or after their course.
Our team works closely with the Careers Office and the Students Union, developing events and activities we think will be beneficial to you. Competitions to help convert enterprising ideas into business reality are fun but at the same time can have a real impact. And, for students who are considering starting up their own business, we are here to provide that all important advice and support needed.

| Business Support and the Sky Centre |
Not only is The Sky Centre the hub of enterprising activity amongst our student population, it is also an incubation and business support unit. We provide three levels of incubation support. Our virtual office facility is ideal for those just starting out, providing a postal address and secure mail box facility. Our hot-desk facility allows those who wish to use office space on an occasional basis to have use of a PC and broadband access. Finally, we also offer business pods for those businesses who need a more permanent office space. All of our incubation tenants will also be able to access a range of other support facilities including that directly from the Business Support Team.
