ID Cards

If you are a student or member of staff at Bishop Grosseteste University you will be issued with an ID card for the duration of your studies or employment. The card should be carried with you at all times whilst on campus: you may be required to present it at any time for security purposes. As well as a means of identification, ID cards are also used for library membership and to access the printing and photocopying network. Your ID card remains the property of Bishop Grosseteste University over the course of your studies or employment.

Replacement cards

The IT Services Department is responsible for the production, distribution and replacement of ID cards. If your card is lost or stolen please inform IT Services immediately so that the card can be disabled. To request a replacement card please contact the IT Services Helpdesk in the Library or the IT Services House during normal office hours. Alternatively, email idcards@bishopg.ac.uk from your University email account quoting your name and either your student ID number (starts with a B), or your job title and department. Please state why a replacement is required and include any pertinent details (e.g. when it was lost or how it is damaged).

You are required to pay for a replacement ID card if your card is lost, or if it is stolen and you cannot provide a crime reference number, or is damaged**, or if you wish to have a new photograph taken. The cost of a replacement card in these instances is £10: payment can only be made at the Finance Department via debit or credit card. The table below summarises the instances in which you are required to pay for a replacement card.

*A stolen card will only be replaced free of charge if a Police crime reference number can be supplied.
**If the card is defaced, cracked, excessively bent or the print/photograph on the card is worn. (Please note: IT Services offer a free self laminating wallet to increase protection, no charge will be applied if damaged whilst protected by these wallets).

Once your request for a replacement card is received and any appropriate payments have been made you will receive an email telling you when your replacement card will be ready to collect. If you request a replacement after 4pm on a Friday you may be offered a temporary replacement over the weekend. Replacement cards should be collected from the IT Helpdesk in the Sibthorp Library, or, if the IT Helpdesk is closed, from the Library Issue Desk. When collecting a replacement card you will be required to present a form of photo identification (driving licence, SU card or passport) as proof of identity.
