Welcome | About the Course | Entry Requirements | Student Life | Employability | Student Satisfaction | Staff | Research | Partnership and Links | Student Case Studies | How to Apply

Welcome

We are pleased to be able to tell you about our top-up degree / progression route for children's and youth workers. The BA (Hons) Applied Studies is a top-up course for students who have completed a Foundation Degree or Diploma in Higher Education in Children and Youth Work or a very similar field of study. Like the Foundation Degree this course allows you to study and continue to work. It is a flexible qualification covering the broad range of settings and contexts in which services are provided for 9-19 year olds. It provides a unique learning opportunity as you will study alongside students working or volunteering in a variety of children's services from pre-schools and children's centres to youth and community projects.

This course provides insight into effective management and leadership within children and youth services while developing your appreciation for the complex factors that prevent children and young people from reaching their potential; and your ability to employ problem solving skills to address such complex factors.

So, if you would like to:

  • improve your professional skills in managing children's and youth services;
  • study and research social trends and factors affecting youth transitions;
  • develop insight in to programmes that support families and the wider community;
  • enhance your current qualification to a BA (Honours);
  • continue your pathway towards recognition for professional youth work status
