Professional Development

International Projects

We offer professional development opportunities to staff in schools overseas from Penang to Zurich and Lahore to Rio de Janeiro. Our tutors can either travel to the schools to deliver training and give demonstration lessons on site, or teachers can study a specifically designed programme on campus or join an existing course.

Each consultancy is tailored to meet the precise needs of the school and individuals involved. Recent work has focused on school development through changing classroom practice and has included consultancy and training inputs to initiate, develop and evaluate the following areas:

  • Management strategies for school improvement;
  • Interactive styles of teaching, learning and assessment;
  • Working with parents and the community;
  • Establishing school development centres;
  • Professional development through research projects and mentoring practices;
  • Updates of recent curriculum initiatives.

UK-Based Courses, Study Visits and Fellowships

Short study tours for senior educationalists often provide a catalyst for change, while longer fellowships for school directors, headteachers and teachers have helped to sustain lasting developments and can lead to postgraduate awards. The visits usually focus on observing national policy and how it is realised through development strategies in a variety of schools. Every fellowship is followed by a debriefing seminar, with opportunities for the application of ideas to the specific situation in the home country.
