This fascinating new full- or part-time (15 or 36 month) postgraduate course is intended for graduates who would like a career in the heritage education sector or who would like to develop their interests in heritage at a higher level.
If you are:
- a graduate with a degree in a related subject;
- a teacher who wants to branch out and use their expertise in a new area of education;
- an experienced heritage worker who would like to extend your skills;
then this degree will prepare you for a career in the heritage sector as a skilled educator. During the programme you will attend a series of five weekend (Friday-Saturday) sessions, complete placements or site studies in the field and undertake a series of assignments culminating in a dissertation. There will be support through tutorials, by email and through a virtual learning environment between the weekend sessions you will:
- work alongside heritage professionals to deliver educational programmes on site;
- find out how to set up stimulating educational programmes in castles, country houses and museums;
- learn different styles and methods of delivery to fascinate and inform your audience.
The course will be delivered in a pattern to suit those already employed in the sector or in other employment.
Our MA in Heritage Education Programme will give you a head-start in your chosen profession because it has been designed to help you develop the particular set of knowledge, skills and understanding you need to pursue a career in the Heritage Education sector. You will learn how to:
- Design heritage education resources;
- Use re-enactment to communicate the past;
- Develop and trial fascinating heritage trails;
- Measure audience response to live heritage events.
Throughout the course you will engage first hand in live heritage projects and visit some amazing heritage sites.
