Pre-2010 Student Accounts
Students registered before Sept 2010 have BG network and email accounts with their data stored locally. Information on how to access those accounts can be found below.
Students registered from Sept 2010 onwards should refer to the Live@edu page for information on how to access their e-mail and Skydrive accounts.
Students enrolled before Sept 2010 have a BG network account and associated 45Mb of local storage space. This space can be accessed by logging on to a computer on campus using your given username and password.
Please note: email and computer accounts will be deleted once students have graduated from the University.
| E-mail via Outlook Web Access (OWA) |
Students are issued a University email address. For students enrolled prior to Sept 2010 this will be in the format of studentnumber@bishopg.ac.uk. Your university email account can also be used for personal use within reason.
The email system for pre-2010 students is called Outlook Web Access. This means that you can check your email from any computer that is connected to the internet whether this is at home, work or university. A guide on using Outlook Web Access is available in the User Guides page (along with a range of other guides to support your use of IT) but please contact the IT Helpdesk if you need assistance.
Student mailboxes are limited to 25Mb of storage space, with an attachment size limit of 10Mb. Once you reach 20Mb of storage space the system will warn you that you are approaching the maximum limit. Once you exceed the limit the system will disable your ability to send emails until you delete some of your stored emails. Please pay particular attention to both the 'Sent Items' & 'Deleted Items' folders. Please note that the system will not disable any incoming emails whilst you have exceeded your limit.
Accessing OWA
Outlook Web Access is a web interface to the University's email servers and will be accessible from computer suites, offices, residences and off-site.
