Welcome from the Vice Chancellor
Thank you for the interest you are showing in Bishop Grosseteste University. We hope you will find the information here helpful and that it will encourage you to consider applying to study here in Lincoln. We think our University has a lot to offer to prospective students and we know that those who have studied here in the past, or who are here currently, have found their time to be worthwhile academically and personally satisfying.
Bishop Grosseteste University has been offering higher education to students since 1862, so we have a strong tradition of excellence behind us, but we also know the importance of looking forward to a future where our graduates need to be very well prepared for an ever-changing world. Our new status as a University demonstrates that we are offering a university experience fit for the 21st century in the supportive environment of a small campus. Our size, and the support we are able to offer each student as an individual, is one of the reasons why we have very high success rates in terms of academic results and employment.
The campus is a pleasant blend of architectural styles from the 19th century to brand new, set amidst pleasant green spaces and courtyards, and even the Victorian buildings are equipped with the latest learning and teaching facilities to prepare you for your future. Campus social life is enhanced by the dedicated Students' Union building and a Sport and Fitness Centre as well as the excellent music and drama resources, and of course, with the centre of Lincoln just a short walk away, there are also many opportunities to enjoy life beyond the campus too.
Bishop Grosseteste University is a church university within the Anglican tradition. In keeping with that tradition, we welcome students and staff of all faiths and none to our courses and encourage debate about the bigger questions of life. For those students who wish to work in church schools, there are additional opportunities to think about faith-based education and to prepare for such a career. Our ambition for all students is that they will go on to make a difference in the world, whatever their chosen career, and that their time at Bishop Grosseteste University will help support them in this.
